Library

The Institute operates one general digital library to provide in-house reading and short-time borrowing of books, internet facility and other reference material. The Reference Library provides the in-place reading.

All students and faculty can enjoy these facilities for more than 10 hours per working day. Audio-visual systems are available for audio and video documents. The General Library System has more than 20,00 books and 10,00 journals and periodicals in its collection. A library automation process will be available within short time. Moreover, the library is enriched every year by collecting recent books and journals.

  1. LibraryDiscipline:
    1. All users must observe total silence in the library and its environs at all times
    2. All users are required to show their Institute IDs to the security officer upon entrance to the library
    3. Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the library
    4. All bags, cases, folders etc. must be left in the luggage area outside the library.
    5. Users are not allowed to leave their baggage overnight in the library. The library shall not take any responsibility for loss of personal property or books already signed out to a user
    6. Users are not allowed to log in using their personal passwords at the search computers or to access the internet from there. Do not shut down the Resource mate program after you are through with your search.
    7. All users are required to show all items to the security officer before leaving the library.
    8. No student is allowed to enter the circulation area without the consent of the library staff
    9. Anyone caught marking, defacing or mutilating books or any other library material willbe expected to pay for the material with the most current edition of the same
    10. Good order must be observed in the library at all times for example placing of feet on the furniture, eating and drinking, smoking, sleeping etc. will not be allowed
    11. Group discussions are only allowed in the discussion room and the noise must be kept to a minimum and should not disturb any other user in the library Use of sound equipments like radios, Walkman’s, cell phones etc. is strictly prohibited in the library and its environs
    12. Seats in the library may not be reserved
    13. Users are not allowed to reshelf books after removing them from the shelf. Leave the books on the table or on the trolley near the door
    14. 1No library equipment may be moved, modified or tampered with without permission from the librarian
  2. Borrowing Procedure:
    1. Borrowing period is strictly between 8:00am and 9:00pm on weekdays and 9:00am and 5:00pm on Saturdays
    2. A user must be a registered student in the current term to be able to use the library services
    3. All students must present their Institute ID before borrowing any library materials
    4. Library materials may not be removed from the library unless the library staff has properly issued them out
    5. Students are allowed to borrow a maximum of six books for a period of two weeks
    6. All borrowed materials must be returned on or before the due date
    7. Students are not allowed to borrow books on behalf of others or transfer borrowed materials to other students
    8. Students with overdue materials and overdue fines will not be allowed to use the library services
    9. All reserve materials must be returned at the specified time
  3. The Following Materials Can Only Be Used Within The Library:

    1. Reference books
    2. Newspapers
    3. Journals and magazines
  4. Damage/ Loss of Library Materials:
    1. All users will be held responsible for any damage or loss of library materials in their possession and will be required to meet the cost of replacement and processing
    2. Users must ensure that the books they borrow are in good condition to avoid being held responsible for any damages noted while returning the books
    3. Lost books must be reported to the librarian immediately and replaced or paid for within 30 days
    4. Lost library books that are recovered, must be handed to the librarian as they remain the property of the Institute library
  5. Overdue Charges/ Fines:

    1. General collection books         100/-Afs per day
    2. Reserve material          100/-Afs per hour
    3. Books not returned at the end of the term      100/-Afs per hour
  6. Exclusion From The Use of The Library :
    1. The library committee shall have the power to suspend or exclude from use of the
      library any user who disregards the library rules and regulations
    2. The library staff have the right to ask students to leave the library if they are behaving nappropriately or causing disturbance to other users

  7. Admission: The Following People Are Allowed to Use The Library:
    1. All registered students of the Institute
    2. Faculty and other staff in the Institute
    3. Spouses and children of staff and students
    4. Known members of the community and those with a genuine need have limited access to the library.
  8. Borrowing: All registered students, faculty and staff have borrowing privileges in the library. Other people may use the library but do not have borrowing privileges.
    1. Loan periods: The length of time that books may be borrowed is as follows:
    2. Students: six books for two weeks; renewable once
    3. Faculty: ten books for four weeks
    4. Other staff:two books for two weeks
    5. Library fines:Fine of 50/-Afs, per volume per day is charged for the late return of books with a regular two week loan period.
    6. Damage and loss of library materials:Any user who causes damage to or loss of any library materials or other library property will be charged for replacement costs. Marking of books and other library materials will be regarded as damage.
    7. NOTE:These rules and regulations are subject to review by the library committee from time to time

  9. Liability/Rights:
    1. Every student is to deposit the tuition fee before 3rd of every month.
    2. Fees and subscription once paid shall not be refunded in full or in part.
    3. The students failing to pay the required fee and subscription by the fixed date will be charged penalty of 500/-Afs, per month and shall be ejected from the Institute if their accounts remain due for three successive months.
    4. The Institute does not assume any liability for any failure or delay in their performance due to causes beyond their control such as fire, natural disasters, power failure, riots, political unrest, acts of public authorities etc.
    5. In case of disciplinary action against a guilty student, resulting in his or suspension or expulsion from the Institute, the Institute shall not be liable for any consequential, financial or academic loss.
    6. The Institute reserves the right to change any or all rules and regulations, academic programs, curricula, tuition and other changes, or evaluation criteria.
    7. In case of any damage to the classroom/ university’s settings (chair, whiteboard/wall etc) he/she will be found responsible they might cause.
